Job Summary :
Laydon, is a family owned and operated excavating & paving company since 1944 providing Underground Construction and Utility Support Services throughout the state of Connecticut. We strive to maintain quality workmanship and provide a safe work environment for our employees and the general public.

We are seeking a Construction Laborer to join our team! The ideal candidate will have experience working on crews that specialize in Concrete, Paving, Watermain and Sewer. We are looking for workers who have a strong work ethic, are a team-player, and are meticulous with their end product.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation of construction sites, including loading and unloading materials and setting up equipment.
• Support Foreman and crew members by providing necessary tools and materials.
• Perform general labor tasks such as shoveling, digging, lifting, concrete finishing, carrying tools, and cleaning work areas.
• Operate basic hand tools and machinery under supervision.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment to prevent accidents.
• Assist in the installation of fixtures, framing, or other structural components as directed.
• Help with site cleanup at the end of each workday to ensure a safe and organized workspace.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in construction or manual labor.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks consistently throughout the workday.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to construction sites is a plus.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills are essential.
• Basic understanding of construction tools and equipment.
• Asphalt Paving, Concrete, and/or Watermain & Sewer experience

Pay Range

• $20 - $30 depending on experience

Hours

• Monday through Friday, 9 to 12 hour days
• Saturdays optional

Working Conditions

• The physical work environment is outdoors. Physical demands of the position include standing, traversing, shoveling, digging, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, running equipment, carrying and operating tools, and working in adverse weather conditions.
