Position Overview & General Responsibilities

We’re seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Talent Acquisition Specialist to lead the full recruitment life cycle—driving a positive candidate experience, building strong talent pipelines, and meeting hiring goals—while working closely with the HR team and assisting with day-to-day HR functions in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

  • Collaborate with the HR Director to develop and execute a strategic staffing plan, establish an engaging employment brand, and design creative sourcing campaigns that build a strong pipeline of qualified candidates.
  • Develop a deep understanding of departmental structures and staffing needs to align recruitment strategies with broader organizational goals.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve the end-to-end recruitment process to enhance the candidate experience, increase efficiency, and ensure compliance with employment laws, EEO regulations, and Sunnyside policies.
  • Proactively source and attract top talent, especially for high-volume and frequently filled roles, using a variety of channels including job boards, advertising plans, job fairs, and live or virtual hiring events.
  • Pre-screen and assess candidates through behavioral and competency-based interviewing; manage requisition workflow to ensure an effective and timely recruitment process.
  • Provide consultation, training, and guidance to department leaders on effective hiring practices, including developing success profiles, legal interviewing, and best-practice selection strategies.
  • Prepare structured interview questions aligned with job success profiles; coordinate interviews and conduct post-interview debriefs with hiring managers
  • Assist with applicant tracking system (ATS) training for hiring managers and job seekers; support hiring teams throughout the selection process.
  • Manage and support all aspects of the pre-employment process, including screening applications, conducting phone screens, and verifying minimum qualifications.
  • Ensure a positive and professional applicant experience by meeting with walk-ins, responding to inquiries promptly, and providing updates throughout the hiring process.
  • Monitor recruitment spend and agency/vendor usage in collaboration with the HR Director to stay within budget and optimize return on investment.
  • Track and report on recruitment metrics, candidate feedback, and market trends; provide insights to leadership to help enhance Sunnyside’s position as an employer of choice.
  • Support employee retention efforts by conducting stay interviews, contributing to retention strategy development, and coaching leaders on new hire engagement and onboarding follow-up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, with work in human resources management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a high-volume recruitment role, conducting all facets of recruiting for a variety of positions.
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system.
  • Experience using social media platforms for recruiting purposes and digital sourcing techniques.
  • Comfortable with cold calling and building and maintaining relationships with potential sources of qualified candidates (colleges and universities, civic organizations, technical programs, professional organizations, trade associations, etc.).
  • Process-oriented and able to coach hiring managers on best practices for candidate experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of philosophies, principles, practices, and Federal and State laws pertaining to human resources management.
  • Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions, and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its integrity.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong phone etiquette.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail and having good organizational skills.
  • Operates personal computer, printer, copy machines, and other general office equipment. Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach when engaging all individuals.
