The Border Operations Section (BOS) California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking a Staff Services Manager I specialist (SSMI) who can research policies and provide policy analysis. They will possess excellent written and oral communication skills. They will be responsible for preparing memos, talking points, and briefing materials for use in various leadership discussions, including briefings for the Governor's Office. They will lead efforts in responding to FEMA's requests for Information. Ensure timely coordination with local and non-profit partners through requests for Information, site visits, site audits and provide technical assistance.
By assessing alignment with CDSS objectives, identifying training needs, and addressing safety and security issues, this position will help maintain operational efficiency and compliance. The SSM I Specialist will also play a critical role in coordinating with Cal OES on emergency management and hazard mitigation for non-profits, issuing operational updates to internal units and tracking changes in federal funding awards. Their expertise will be vital in supporting the Grants-Finance Unit in recommending future state investments and ensuring optimal use of both state and federal funding.
