Department: Catering
Reports to:  Corporate Director of Operations
Salary: $80-90K annually + Commissions
Status:  Full-time, Exempt

Job Summary We are seeking a highly creative and sales-driven Director of Catering & Events to lead our Catering team. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic about actively procuring new clients while fostering established client relationships. In addition, they would assist clients in bringing their culinary vision to life, planning and overseeing the physical and service requirements of various catered events and functions. To make this happen, the Director of Catering & Events would be resourceful and a teamwork champion as they would need to coordinate with chefs, managers, and the Catering team to ensure the delivery of quality service to our valued clients from start to finish.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Create catering and event Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Create new department training manuals and develop team.
  • Prospect possible new clients and maintain client relations
  • Develop sales strategy to capture large offsite events including weddings and corporate events.
  • Collaborate with restaurants and commissary to develop To-Go box program.
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs in areas of food, beverage, supply, utility, and budgeted labor costs.
  • Review all catering BEOs and ensure all details are fully executed including delivery, event set up, service and breakdown.
  • Respond to catering inquiries for ORG in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the packing, delivery, and set-up of catering orders per client's specifications and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Check storage area daily to maintain organization and perform monthly inventory on all catering equipment to ensure equipment is in good and safe working order
  • Direct contact with third-party caterers (i.e. EZCater, CaterZen, Forkable, and SF2BAY) for ORG.
  • Direct contact with venue accounts (i.e. Rosewood Hotel, Four Seasons, Moscone Center, Chase Center)
  • Coordinate Forkable orders and assist restaurants with packing and delivery.
  • Respond to client feedback and take appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
  • Coordinate with each location’s and ORG management teams for all catering orders and needs
  • Ensure payment is received and invoicing is accurate for all orders and closed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all orders are entered into the POS correctly and tracked into the right department.
  • Enforce sanitary and safety practices for food handling and transport.
  • Coordinate with restaurants for delivery support with ORG vehicles
  • Maintaining event’s calendar and coordinator’s schedules.
  • Submit department payroll bi-weekly.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two years of leadership experience in hospitality/food industry preferably in a Front of House role
  • Ability to lead the Catering team and foster a positive work culture
  • Sound business decision making
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to deliver courteous and friendly service to all guests and employees
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to drive various commercial vehicles

Prerequisites for Employment:

  • Manager Level Food Handler Certification
  • Responsible Beverage Service Certification
  • Valid California driver’s license

The Director of Catering & Events must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
