Haven AI is transforming the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) market through AI-driven incident investigation and prevention. The company utilizes generative AI and advanced data analytics to significantly reduce the overhead of data collection and analysis, while capturing critical insights trapped in the multi-modal, unstructured safety data. The goal is to identify leading indicators and recommend strategies that prevent incidents before they occur.

As our CTO, you will play a crucial role in developing Haven’s technology strategy and software architecture, leading the building of our prototype and MVP solution. You will have the freedom to define the tech stack and build your dream team of experts across software engineering and AI/ML.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development of Haven’s AI-powered safety co-pilot from prototype through MVP and beyond.
- Architect a system capable of multimodal data processing—including documents, voice, images, and video—to build a proprietary dataset that improves with every incident.
- Build and manage a high-caliber team of engineers and data scientists to deliver time-sensitive milestones.
- Drive integrations with partner platforms and APIs to accelerate adoption and create ecosystem value.
- Evaluate and implement foundational AI tools (e.g., Claude, GPT-4, AWS Bedrock) to support Haven’s evolving use cases.
- Architect and lead the build of an enterprise-grade, SOC-2 compliant product.

Role Expectations Include:
- Leadership & Strategy: Provide visionary leadership and strategy for the engineering team; Establish and drive strategic technology goals and objectives.
- Team Development: Hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning—proven success in a remote environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with all teams to ensure alignment between business and technological goals.
- Being comfortable presenting to the board, addressing the entire company, and engaging in discussions with high-value potential customer prospects. You'll be expected to demonstrate a lead-by-example leadership style, an unparalleled commitment, and a proactive mindset to shape the foundation and drive the company's success from its earliest stages, including: Ready to dive deep, encompassing a hands-on, get-it-done mentality for whatever is needed, regardless of the job role.
- Be a full-time coach for your team to develop talent and create opportunities for staff.
- Mentor other departments, such as customer service and implementation, on the technology to best support customers.
- Always strategizing and proactively sharing insights on improving the company, enhancing our product, and empowering our team to achieve greater success.
- Represent the technical vision in pitches and investor conversations.
Requirements For The Role Include:
- Entrepreneurial Track Record: Prior experience as a founder or early-stage technical leader at a VC-backed B2B or enterprise applications startup.
- 0→1 Execution: Proven success building and shipping software products from scratch.
- Full Stack Fluency: Strong grounding in front-end and back-end development; comfortable navigating architecture, devops, and infrastructure decisions.
- AI/ML Proficiency: Deep familiarity with ML pipelines, LLMs, vector databases, agentic workflows, and AI integration workflows. Hands-on experience a requirement.
- Systems Thinking: Experience designing for scale, API integration, and performance in enterprise settings.
- Data Management: Comfortable designing secure, accessible, and auditable data pipelines across structured and unstructured inputs.
- Customer Focus: Comfortable engaging with enterprise clients, translating user pain points into technical priorities.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to inspire, recruit, and grow engineering talent.
- Fundraising Exposure: Direct participation in capital raising as a technical executive is a strong plus.
